Fused Deposition Modeling
Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is one of many rapid prototyping
processes used to fabricate 3-D objects.
FDM machines (manufactured by Stratasys Inc.) build prototype
parts by extruding thermoplastic materials such as ABS and
Nylon and depositing it layer-by-layer. FDM currently has
the some of the best material options available although finished
parts still do not match the full physical properties of the
native resin due to the layer laminations.
